February 17, 2012 Volume VII, Issue 22   Home Letter from Donna Dear Parents,  As you came through campus earlier this week to drop your daughter off at school, you may have come in contact with a Radnor police officer telling you about a new law that is going into effect. Beginning December 2011, not wearing a seatbelt became a primary offense for drivers and passengers 18 and under. What this means is that teens can be pulled over and cited for not having on their seatbelt. The Agnes Irwin School invited the Radnor police to campus to give them an opportunity to get the word out about this new law to our driving students. The Radnor Township police department plans to begin enforcing this law in weeks to come. They will likely set up check sites on streets around schools, including ours. As parents of Lower Schoolers, this may not affect you directly, but I mention it because it may affect someone about whom you care deeply, and it serves as a perfect opportunity to remind you that children under 12 should always be sitting in the back seat, preferably in a car seat or booster, until they meet the height and weight requirements for moving beyond them. As many of you are likely going on road trips over this long weekend, this is as good a time as any to check those booster seats and make sure seat belts are fitting properly!
