  • The statistics class works on projects with the global educational organization iEARN. Recently, the class developed a survey to compare various aspects of student life, both in school and outside of school.  The survey is the statistical component
of a project, My School - Your School, sponsored by two schools - one in Argentina and one in England.
  • Numb3rs Club - Students alternate club periods doing math activities with viewing the actual TV series.  The club works on math activities generated by Texas Instruments who provides mathematical support on the set for the making of Numb3rs.  The activities themselves relate to the episode that is going to be presented next.  The girls enjoy using math they have already learned in a new context as well as learning new concepts of mathematics which are used in the solving of crimes, the main theme of the show.
  • Honors problems are assigned to students in Algebra I – Calculus math classes.  There are eight honors problems in a trimester, designed to be interesting as well as challenging, with the explanation of their work and the presentation of their thinking as important as their actual answer.
  • Geometry classes have had a Golden Ratio project, in which they measured different parts of their body and compared the measurements to see how close their bodies were to the golden ratio.  Another project, called Stars, had the students find the sum of the measures of the angles of the points on any five pointed star (it did not have to be a perfect pentagram).
