Welcome! It is with enormous pride that I invite you to learn about The Agnes Irwin School. Here, as in many all-girls’ schools across the country, we are helping young women build a foundation of intellect, imagination, and experience – all aimed at preparing them to successfully navigate our ever-changing, ever-challenging world.
At Agnes Irwin, girls actively participate in the classroom, sports, and extracurricular activities. They willingly take risks, assume leadership roles, and speak in public. They also elect higher level math and science courses, often pursuing these fields after graduation. Without boys, girls focus on their performance rather than their appearance and form sisterly bonds that endure.
The Agnes Irwin School has earned a national reputation for providing girls with a rigorous academic program coupled with the nurturing they need to become young women of character, confidence, and heart. My hope is that each student who leaves Agnes Irwin understands that an education such as hers is a privilege, and with that privilege is a responsibility to make a positive contribution to the world she lives in, as more than 4,000 AIS graduates have done for well over a century.
As the Head of School, I believe that to continue providing the quality education that sets us apart, we must continue to understand, value, and foster the individual strengths of our girls; adapt our instruction to their unique learning styles; and always strive to deliver our curriculum in the most meaningful context for each and every student. The Agnes Irwin School achieves these goals in a challenging, nurturing, and welcoming learning environment where young girls grow into self-assured young women who go on to lead fulfilling professional and personal lives.
