The 143rd academic year at The Agnes Irwin School commenced with an All-School Assembly on Wednesday, September 7. As girls began to arrive on site, filled with anticipation for the new year, it became apparent that some exciting changes had occurred in the community while they were away for summer break.

Thirteen seniors were inducted into the 2011 Cum Laude Society, continuing an AIS tradition of recognizing the highest academic achievement in the graduating class. Dozens of other Upper School students were recognized for achievement in studio arts, art history, media arts, photography, theater, dance, creative writing, and vocal and instrumental music at the Arts Awards Ceremony.

Creativity Shines Through at the 5th Grade Opera

After four months of preparation, the 5th grade performed their original opera Theseus and the Minotaur, based on the Greek myth about Theseus battling the Minotaur to save the young people of Athens, on Thursday, May 12.
