Letter from Anne
Dear Parents,

Despite the dreary weather this week, there is sunshine in the hallways of AIS! Each class is busy working on their Winter Spirit Hallway Competition, including a red carpet, a cauldron, a vineyard, and two life-sized soldiers. The girls are gearing up for Arts Week, with Impulse Arts Night pins on sale and a palpable enthusiasm for the open mike performances. A number of Upper School classwomen performed and spoke on a panel for the eighth grade co-curricular night, reminding us of all the talent that certainly does not lie latent in our community.

It is also, though, the time of year to revisit those goals and aspirations set on the first day of school. I would love for each of you to have a conversation with your daughter that takes the temperature of where she is in meeting those goals, and more importantly, to give her a boost by reminding her of the following important guiding behaviors:

· Trust Yourself
· Reach Out
· Be Patient
· Ask Questions
· Take Healthy Risks
· Be Independent

As simple as this list may seem, each behavior is one we can all forget at times. As I visit classes, talk to girls in advisory, listen to senior assemblies, counsel both parents and students on important questions, watch athletic events, and simply observe the day-to-day happenings of an AIS girl, I know the adults in our community work diligently to foster each of these behaviors, knowing that mastery of them will lead to successful women as they transition to the greater world.

Thank you for being our partners in mentoring your daughters.

Anne
