Dear Parents,
Where I was born and raised, spring arrived with a snowstorm, usually a blizzard. If patterns held, our last heavy snowfall arrived right around Memorial Day. The nostalgia I felt watching the flakes fall this morning did not last long, I must say. I much prefer the way that the Lower School signals the arrival of the season—with a wonderful repertoire of songs performed by our students. The annual Spring Sing concerts held this week warmed people’s hearts when the weather would not cooperate, and reminded us yet again of the community and spirit of being that is Agnes Irwin. Thank you to all who were able to attend, and for those of you who could not be there, I hope that your Lower Schooler was able to share some of the experience with you later in the day through her retelling. My thanks to Murray Savar for his leadership of our singers, Trish Siembora for her direction resulting in the beautiful artwork that adorned the Laura Thomas Buck ’49 Pavilion, and our other teachers for the flexibility and patience they demonstrated, allowing Mr. Savar to rehearse and practice over the last few weeks with the girls for their performance.Whether you are off to warmer climates, colder climates, Bryn Mawr, Wayne, Philadelphia, Phoenixville, or other parts of town, I wish you a relaxing Spring Break and hope that you will bring warmer weather back with you!
