Nearly 200 women returned to campus for a weekend of celebration at Reunion 2011. Alumnae reunited with classmates and faculty members, old friendships rekindled, and new ones were formed over the weekend as AIS alumnae celebrated the common bond they will always have as graduates of The Agnes Irwin School. The weekend’s events included a Decades Luncheon on Friday, April 29 and an alumnae lacrosse game, a memorial ceremony for classmates who have passed away, an information session on the Campus Improvements Project, a luncheon for all Reunion alumnae on Saturday, April 30, and a brunch for Laurel Society members on Sunday, May 1.
The Laura Thomas Buck ’49 Pavilion was filled with nostalgia and excitement on Saturday, April 30 as women from the Classes of 1936 through 2006 (with class years ending in a 1 or a 6) gathered for a luncheon and to honor alumnae who received various awards. Recipients of the alumnae awards were: Patricia Peterson McCurdy ’51 (Willing Award), Leslie Crutchfield ’86 (M. Penney Moss Award), Susan Lea ’76 (Alumnae Award), and Janet Bartholdson ’06, Kathryn Gundersen ’06 and Hillary Wolcott ’05 (Young Alumnae Award).
Annual giving awards, the Sophy Dallas Irwin Prize for highest dollar amount raised and the Loving Cup for the highest percentage of participation, were given to the Class of 1961 and the Class of 1974 respectively.
