Middle School Athletics Update
The Middle School Athletic Program is off to a fantastic start this fall. We have 92 student athletes participating in five fall sports under the guidance of passionate coaches who know the girls on the playing field as well as in the classroom. In addition to being experienced in the sport they coach, all of our Middle School coaches are teachers here at Agnes Irwin.

Middle school community service coordinator, math teacher, and longtime field hockey coach Dawn Anthony (pictured third from right in the photo) took her team to Germantown Academy last Saturday to participate in “Hockey for the House.” The GA girl’s varsity field hockey team runs this tournament in support of the Ronald McDonald House, which acts as a home away from home for parents of critically ill children while they are hospitalized. Coach Anthony loves this tournament because it not only provides the girls with the opportunity to play on turf against club and school teams but it also supports a wonderful cause.

As you may be aware, the Middle School teams have been extending their practice times to 4 p.m. in an effort to improve preparation for games. The girls have been doing an excellent job of managing their time and participating in these extended practices. We appreciate the assistance of all parents who work to accommodate this practice schedule for the benefit of our athletes and our teams.

We hope to see many of you on the playing fields over the next few weeks!
