Middle School "Extra" Session Winter 2012

This must-do after-school program offers a number of hour-long constructive activities supervised by Agnes Irwin faculty and local instructors. Don’t miss the newest happenings in the Middle School. Join us for “Extra” fun!

• Each course is $155
• Program runs Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 
• Classes run from 3:45 - 4:45 p.m.
• Enrollment form and payment are due by Monday, January 9th
• School will be closed on Monday, February 20th
• For Monday sessions, last day is March 5
 
To register, download and save the form to your personal computer, fill in the form, save it with a unique name (e.g. your child's name), and email the completed form to Michelle Burns at mburns@agnesirwin.org.
 
Instructor: Sam Sandler, Summer Session ASL and Magic teacher
An introduction to American Sign Language (ASL), this course includes basic grammar, vocabulary, finger spelling, numbers and cultural information related to the hearing-impaired community. Sign language classes create the human interaction and reinforcement needed to build confidence. Classes also offer opportunities to practice signing skills in real-life situations.

Instructor: Claire Lewis, AIS Pre-K teacher
Knitting is a lifelong skill that encourages concentration and creativity and is a very satisfying activity in itself. Knitting Club is for experienced knitters and new knitters who are keen to learn. Experienced knitters will learn new stitches and ways to correct mistakes, while receiving help with their projects. New knitters will learn how to cast on and off and how to knit in garter and stocking stitches. Everyone will attempt to complete a specific project.

Instructor: Main Line Chinese Cultural Center (MLCCC) teacher
A unique curriculum, taught by native Mandarin Chinese speakers, that includes Chinese language, culture, arts and crafts. All Chinese ability levels are welcome and a prior knowledge of Chinese is not required. Don’t miss out on this after-school program that will give your daughter a global experience, including Chinese cultural arts and fun!

Instructor: Carol Elia, Yoga 4 Kids
Yoga improves overall wellness, muscle control, balance and stability. Yoga Sport is a fundamental tool for youth of all ages. A great way to expose children to the ways of health and wellness, yoga helps with the development of inner awareness and the practice of focusing the mind on the present moment. Through fun group games, yoga partner activities and individual practice of postures that develop both strength and flexibility, each yogi will begin the journey of inner peace!
