Letter from Lynne |

Dear Parents,
I don’t know if you’ve seen the movie “Miss Congeniality,” a spoof on beauty pageants, but it pokes fun at the easy answer of “world peace” proffered by contestants when asked about their greatest wish. While the answer is so trite as to be laughable, certainly the sentiment itself is not. Who wouldn’t spend a wish on this, if wishes really did come true?
Though world peace is a wish we can all get on board with, there is a certain grandness about it that makes it seem way too unwieldy. The world, after all, is a really big place, with a whole lot of people and a whole lot of problems. I’m not suggesting we give up on the notion, but for this week, this holiday season, I’m wishing on a slightly smaller scale.
I wish for you, and your friends and family, to have a healthy holiday and New Year.
I wish for your daughters to have a sense of ease, happiness and pride about who they are, right now, at this place in their lives.
For our neighbors and fellow citizens, I wish for food on the table and a safe place to call home.
I believe you’ve given your daughters an incredible gift by sending them to Agnes Irwin; I know you’ve given AIS an incredible gift by sharing them with us. Thank you.
