Media Arts

media arts at Agnes Irwin

The Media Arts curriculum introduces students to the elements and principles of graphic design and how they are applied to the world of digital design and communication.Through hands-on use of digital technologies and access to a state-of-the-art Innovation Lab, students develop unique and personal expressions in design and communication with an emphasis on creative problem-solving and independent thinking skills. Students learn the history of typography as well as the major movements in the field of graphics. In Middle School, seventh graders begin to explore software such as Photoshop, InDesign, Alice for computer animation and the video-editing software Final Cut Pro. Our Upper School Media Arts courses take students from an introduction to graphic design to advanced work in print, film and independent study.
