Multicultural Curriculum

Appreciating difference

Ethnicity, culture, social class, race, religion and other elements of multiculturalism are recognized throughout the curriculum at Agnes Irwin in an effort to help students appreciate the societal contributions of those of diverse backgrounds. Many aspects of difference are explored through social studies, language and creative arts, literature, history, geography, modern and classical languages, even music.  We also nurture the emotional and socials skills necessary to thrive in a diverse and inclusive community through curriculum-based programs such as Let’s Care in Lower School, Community Cares in Middle School and Transitions in Upper School. The intimate environment at AIS gives girls the opportunity to interact and work with others who have different backgrounds, sharing opinions with respect and managing conflicts.

Our Principles
of Community

The Agnes Irwin School fosters an environment that represents many backgrounds, thereby building a community in which the contributions of all people are valued and respected.
