Our Mission & Vision for the Future
The Agnes Irwin School has always been committed to promoting the education of girls in an innovative, supportive and rigorous academic atmosphere.
A few years ago, the Board of Trustees, faculty and staff began discussing how they could further develop the school as a preeminent educational institution. Each group identified the one characteristic that makes Agnes Irwin special – a dedication to excellence in all-girls’ education. They saw an opportunity to expand the school's work by developing a new approach to addressing issues that girls face as learners and future leaders in the 21st century.
In the early fall of 2010, Mariandl Hufford, M.S.Ed., M.S.Ed., Ed.M., and a team of faculty and staff set out to create a model for applying and disseminating current research and designing innovative programs that would mark Agnes Irwin as a thought leader and change agent in education.
The mission of the Center for the Advancement of Girls is to support girls in developing the cognitive and social-emotional tools and resilient mindset needed to lead healthy, balanced lives while empowering them to be leaders in a global community.
