The lunch series program began in the spring of 2010 with a visit from founder and executive director Wanjiru Kamau-Rutenberg of the Akili Dada Foundation, a non-profit that supports the development of women leaders in Africa. Small groups of students are invited to meet and lunch with women leaders from various professions and walks of life. This past year, women who represent leadership in law, science, the arts, support of the homeless, and alumnae shared their stories, both challenges and successes, and encouraged Agnes Irwin students to reach beyond their local environments to experience opportunities they may not have considered. The program will continue to engage Agnes Irwin alumnae who have made unique contributions to the world through their individual and collaborative leadership. The series focuses on small groups in order to foster new relationships that can lead to effective networking in the future.
