Katie Cooper Receives the 2023 Mayock Distinguished Teacher-Coach Award
On May 22, the Middle School student and faculty community, as well as members of the Athletics Department, gathered in the West-Wike Theatre to celebrate Katie Cooper P'21 who received the Mayock Distinguished Teacher-Coach Award.
Katie Cooper has been teaching, guiding, and coaching Agnes Irwin students for more than twenty-two years as a science teacher, 7th and 8th Grade Dean of Students, After Session teacher, and athletics coach at all levels. AIS Athletic Director Courtney Lubbe introduced two members of the Mayock family, Mrs. Amanda Mayock and Ms. Mackenzie Miles, who presented the award to Katie. Katie's daughter, Kelly Cooper '21, was also in attendance to honor her mother's recognition.
The annual Mayock Award aims to recognize those individuals who impart the highest level of integrity, professionalism, and concern for the total education of the student-athletes at the Inter-Ac league’s nine schools – Chestnut Hill Academy, Episcopal Academy, Germantown Academy, Haverford School, Malvern Prep, Academy of Notre Dame, Agnes Irwin School, The Baldwin School, and Penn Charter. Recipients are chosen by a unanimous vote of the athletic director and headmaster of the eligible schools each year.
Congratulations, Katie!
