Seniors Named National Merit Scholarship Program Finalists

Seniors Elizabeth Scott (left) and Saguna Malhotra (right) were recently named Finalists in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship program for outstanding academic achievement.

We congratulate Elizabeth and Saguna on this outstanding achievement,” said Dr. Wendy Hill, head of school. “Their advancement to the Finalist level is a testament to their academic excellence and dedication to their studies — they are well prepared for the rigor of higher education. We look forward to what the future will bring for these two talented young women, and all of our incredible seniors.”

Each year, the National Merit Scholarship program offers college tuition assistance to high performing seniors. Of the 1.6 million entrants, less than one percent of high school seniors are recognized as semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition; about 90 percent of Semifinalists will attain Finalist standing, and more than half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship and earn the Merit Scholar title, according to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
