After School Care

Mind-expanding activities continue after school, providing extended care for busy families.

In Lower School, we provide two main options for after-school care: After Session and Extra Session. Both enrichment programs are optional and provide girls with a variety of engaging activities and one-on-one instruction once the school day has ended. After Session offers extended-day care during the school year, while the seasonal Extra Session is scheduled in three sessions each year.

After Session

After Session is a safe, convenient after-school program that provides an enriching and structured experience for Lower School students. Our After Session program is available to Lower School girls from 3 to 6 p.m. on any school day and parent conference days.

After Session is taught by Berrie Torgan-Randall, an experienced Agnes Irwin teacher, and she leads the students in a variety of planned activities that include arts and crafts, cooking, computer time, and reading. Homework supervision/quiet time, free play and snack are offered daily. Financial assistance is available for students currently receiving financial aid.

Extra Session

Extra Session is an optional after-school enrichment program for Agnes Irwin students in Grades PreK–4. Through constructive activities supervised by Agnes Irwin faculty and local instructors, students can learn new skills, exercise athletic abilities and discover their creativity.

Students engage in classes like Hands On Equations, Yoga, and Fairy Fun with Lower School faculty as well as classes led by local instructors: Walnut Street Theatre (Acting, Musical Theatre), Curious Jane (DIY Accessories, DIY Gifts), and Little Scholars (Cooking Around the World, Whiz Kids, Wood Creations, Green Thumb Club, World Travelers). A coding class, developed and led by Upper School students, was offered to second and third graders.

Join us for 6-7 week class programs and "One and Done" Workshops (individual class meetings led by AIS faculty and administrators). Classes are held Mondays through Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and carry registration fees. Supervision is provided between the end of the school day and the beginning of Extra Session.
