Nurturing Potential: Lower School Life
There's more to explore beyond the classroom for our youngest learners at Agnes Irwin.
Assemblies
Grammy® nominated songwriters, authors, illustrators, firefighters, and environmentalists can be found visiting AIS during Lower School's assemblies. You never know who will stop by next!
Girls on the Run
Through this program, girls not only learn how to run competitively as they train for a 5K, but can recognize their individual strengths while building a sense of connection in a team setting. Oh what fun it is to run!
After Session
Mind enriching activities including arts and crafts, cooking, computers, reading, homework, free play, and quiet time are the hallmarks of our After Session, and provide after-school care for families who need an extended day option. Programs run daily until 6 p.m.
May Fair
For more than 75 years, our community has gathered around the may pole for special dances and the weaving of the may pole by the 4th grade. The festivities are followed by games, food, and our beloved lemon sticks!
Field Day
Our Lower School comes together on the lawn for a fun day filled with games and camaraderie. Teams are comprised of girls from every grade, and are named after popular animals. It's a wild day of competition.
Robotics
Fourth graders can participate in our Robotics Club, which culminates in our annual robotics competition. Girls work together to design and build a machine and motor out of K'Nex that can move an object.
Grandfriends' Day
Grandparents and special friends visit the Lower School every spring for a morning of fun including classroom activities like "fraction pizza," pillow making, and square dancing. It's always a hoot!
