Thriving in Transition: Middle School Life
New experiences and leadership opportunities await middle school girls with a growing sense of independence.
Parliament
A gathering of owls is called a parliament, and that's just what we do in Middle School. Several mornings a week, students gather to discuss topics of interest and reinforce the Middle School values.
Student Council
Executive leadership; arts, athletics, community service, DEIB representatives, environmental representatives; and homeroom representatives work together to lead the Middle School student body.
Middle School Musical
Seventh and eight grade students collaborate on this annual production — from set design, to costumes, and scenery — and take the stage for our Middle School Musical.
Athletics
Sixth, seventh and eighth grade students can compete for the Owls in field hockey, soccer, volleyball, basketball, squash, swimming/diving, lacrosse, softball cross country, and tennis.
Stars and Stripes Day
The balloon toss, three-legged races, and tug-of-war are all part of this special day of competition. One 8th grade student is awarded the Bonnie White Sportsmanship Award for her positive and resilient spirit.
Overnight Field Trips
Every year, each grade participates in an overnight field trip — to extend learning from the classroom and provide an opportunity to bond as a class.
Middle School Pledge
The AIS Middle School community embraces respect, honesty, dedication, and understanding. Through these core values, we build positive relationships, develop intellectual curiosity and encourage creative expression so that we may thrive in and contribute to a diverse world.
