Educational Technology

Divider Wreath

At Agnes Irwin, we believe that a thoughtfully designed educational technology program provides essential tools and strategies to support both teaching and learning.

We embrace technology as a powerful catalyst for great teaching—grounded in research, focused on innovation, and dedicated to helping faculty create dynamic, student-centered learning environments.

A Human-Centered Approach to Innovation

The most effective use of technology begins with students. Our dedicated technology team partners closely with teachers to explore new tools and methods—from integrating design thinking into projects to utilizing resources such as laser and vinyl cutters, 3D printers, and other creative technologies. Our dedicated spaces—the Lower School iWonder Lab, the STEAM Studio, and the Innovation Lab—equip students and faculty with the tools for collaborative, hands-on exploration. Here, students learn to be curious creators, not just passive consumers of technology. We also engage with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), teaching students to think critically about both the opportunities and ethical implications of these tools.

Supporting and Elevating Teaching

Our goal is to use technology to give teachers more time for what matters most: human connection and personalized instruction. Technology can streamline administrative tasks and deliver real-time insights into student learning, allowing our expert faculty to focus on meaningful feedback and individualized support. We also leverage technology to extend the classroom experience—enabling virtual field trips, global collaborations, and immersive learning opportunities that bring the world to our students.

Grounded in Research and Best Practices

Every decision we make about educational technology is informed by a deep understanding of how girls learn best. Through the work of our Center for the Advancement of Girls, we ensure that our strategies are grounded in current research and effective pedagogical practices.\ We do not pursue technology for its own sake; instead, we invest in tools and practices that are supported by evidence and a clear, logical model for improving student outcomes. This thoughtful, intentional approach ensures that our use of technology leads directly to a more engaging, rigorous, and effective education for every Agnes Irwin student.
