Accountability Counsel Club’s goal is to raise student awareness of human and environmental rights issues around the world. Specifically, we will gain insight into Accountability Counsel’s cases supporting communities around the world to defend their rights – from farmers in Haiti, to nomadic herders in Mongolia’s South Gobi Desert, to indigenous people in the mountains of Nepal. We will learn about how international financial flows can be a force to benefit or harm people and the environment, why, and how to build systems to avoid harm. We will also learn professional skills as we engage with Accountability Counsel’s team.

This cohort-style mentoring program provides a safe space for girls in grades 9-12 to discuss school life, identity, career exploration, societal issues and pressures with "allies," or adult women mentors.

Akilah Club is about forming a bond between the Agnes Irwin School and The Akilah Institute. Both schools are all about empowering women, and we will work together to understand the best ways to educate and inspire girls.

Athletes Helping Athletes is a club that focuses on volunteering to assist children and adults with special needs who wish to participate in athletic activities be able to do so, have fun, and become part of a team.

Book Club is a fun, laid back environment where students can explore different exciting genres of books and discuss them as a group.

The goal of this club is to give students the opportunity to learn about different jobs they might want to pursue by meeting with members of our community in a variety of careers.

Dance Club teaches dances from Kpop while giving everyone the option to move around during a club.

The Debate Club is focused on helping classmates develop the skills needed to engage in educated, respectful, and professional debate about current events and topics while discussing various perspectives. 

The club is prepared for attending the 2020 DECA Competitive Event. The DECA Competitive Event is a simulated business competition for high school students around the world. It is a great opportunity for students who are interested in business and are likely to major in it in college. Students will gain practical knowledge in specific domain and the event directly contribute to students being college and career ready.

Focus is a place where people of all faith backgrounds can come together to learn how the lessons of the Christian faith can help them in their everyday lives.

Our mission is to inform and include our community in conversations surrounding current events and hot topics within the black community and culture.

The AIS Grant Making Club strives to improve the mental and physical health of women and children by working with local organizations to provide them with resources and opportunities necessary to have healthy, happy, and successful futures.

Students learn to play guitar together and teach each other while having fun. Anyone with any level of experience playing guitar is welcome to join!

Teach students different life skills that you can learn in 30 minutes that can serve you well, such as using Microsoft Office Excel.

The purpose of Minds Unlimited is to raise awareness and reduce the negative stigma of mental health issues. We will promote wellbeing and mental health to all girls through education and support; deliver a variety of programs and supports to girls impacted by mental health issues; and work to eliminate labels, stigma, and prejudice. 

Model UN is a simulation of the United Nations in which students replicate diplomatic discussions and take part in strategic debates in an attempt to find solutions to real world problems. The Club is open to all Upper School students grades 9 through 12 who are interested in these topics and willing to work on researching and writing about them. 

This club raises awareness and plans events to support the No More Kids With Cancer Foundation, in honor of a former AIS student.

PALs stands for Peer Active Listening Support. PALs is a peer mentoring program that pairs Upper School PALs with a Lower or Middle School girl. The mission of PALs is to provide friendship and support to Lower School and Middle School girls. Upper School volunteers build relationships, impart confidence and self-esteem, and have fun with Lower and Middle School girls.

The Paper Airplanes Tutoring Club provides free English language tutoring via Skype to high school-aged Syrian refugees and those affected by conflict in different parts of the world. Tutors are matched with a student and meet with them weekly throughout the year, helping them to improve their reading and writing skills. 

This club will teach students to make simple crafts out of clay, such as animals and some characters in animation.

Members design, create, and paint sets for all AIS theatre productions, such as the US Musical, the plays and other productions throughout the year.

Do you have a passion for fashion? Want to show off your knowledge of retro styles? Then Skirt is for you!

Have thought-provoking discussions that encourage students to share their opinions in a well-mannered way about topics having to do with race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, class, etc. We seek justice for minorities and come up with solutions for our society. Rather than seeing who is right and who is wrong, we try to find common ground and repair situations.

Spanish Club focuses on appreciation and celebration of world languages and their cultures, specifically the Spanish culture and language

Learn what it takes to work backstage to make our productions come to life. Members will learn how to construct and design sets, how to operate the lights and sound system of the West-Wike Theater, and to handle the backstage elements for the fall musical, winter drama, Middle School musical and Dance Motion.

STEM club is aimed at increasing girls’ interest in science, technology, engineering, and math through discussions, interactive experiments and lectures. This club will also collaborate with the Lower and Middle schools to get younger students excited in STEM fields. 

Sustainable Living Club spreads awareness about how our everyday actions impact our planet, and how we can reduce the impact of these actions. We will research how eco-friendly brands such as Tesla, vegan companies, and more encourage reform, and watch documentaries such as The Sixth Extinction while continuing to push for local places to be more green.

We will watch documentaries about Chinese food, taste the delicious food, and even try making some ourselves if possible. Currently, people have a general understanding of the Chinese culture, but there are huge culture differences between regions within China. We hope to bring more understanding and awareness of the diverse cultures in different areas of China.

An improv program that allows students to work with each other to find new ways to express themselves.

This club explores international affairs and US foreign policy issues. Activities may include watching a video on international issues, listening to a presidential speech, or researching, writing and sharing country profiles. This club is active with the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia. 

This club works to put together our fabulous year in review The Lamp, our yearbooks. Taking photos, writing copy, arranging pages are just some of what we do.

In Young Dems, we will foster an environment in which its members can learn about and discuss major domestic issues.

Our club gives republican girls a place where they can freely express their political beliefs and discuss political current events. We will have regular conversations with the Young Democrats.
