Our Philosophy

We are committed to having an economically, ethnically, racially, and religiously diverse student body. Admission decisions are made by the Admission Committee based on the applicant's strengths, on her potential to thrive at Agnes Irwin, and on her capacity to contribute to the school community.

Admission Timeline

Our first round of admission decisions is complete for the 2026-2027 school year, and we are now in our rolling admission process. Once a candidate's application file -- including transcripts, teacher recommendations, and the student visit -- is complete,  our Admission Committee reviews the mateirals and typically shares a decision within a week. Because we evaluate applications as they arrive, we encourage interested families to reach out as soon as possible, as enrollment is offered on a space-available basis until our classes reach capacity for the upcoming year.

Tuition Assistance Timeline

The first Tuition Assistance deadline was December 5, 2025. Families who apply after early December should complete their application for consideration of tuition assistance as soon as possible. Applications will be received based on funding availability during our rolling admission process.

Did you know?

PreKindergarten, Kindergarten and Grades 5, 6, and 9 are the most common entry times for the school; however, 25% of new students enter in other grades.

The Agnes Irwin School is a member of the Philadelphia Region Independent School Enrollment Consortium (PRISEC)

As part of our shared commitment to a fair and transparent admissions process for families exploring independent schools across the Greater Philadelphia region, PRISEC schools have agreed upon the following common admission process dates:

  • Earliest Application Deadline: December 1

  • Earliest Notification Date: January 10

  • Earliest Commitment Deadline: February 15

If you are asked to reply to an offer of enrollment or scholarship that does not align with these “no earlier than” process dates, or a personal family circumstance requires an exception to the above, here are the next steps:

  1. Call the school that is asking you to reply earlier than the agreed-upon dates listed above and ask for an extension on your reply to their offer.

  2. If no extension is granted, call the other school(s) to which you have applied and ask for an exception and expedited review and/or decision.
