Our Mission & Vision for the Future
The Agnes Irwin School has always been committed to promoting the education of girls in an innovative, supportive and rigorous academic atmosphere.
Several years ago, the Board of Trustees, faculty and staff began discussing how they could further develop the school as a preeminent educational institution. Each group identified the one characteristic that makes Agnes Irwin special – a dedication to excellence in all-girls’ education. They saw an opportunity to expand the school's work by developing a new approach to addressing issues that girls face as learners and future leaders in the 21st century.
In the early fall of 2010, Mariandl Hufford, M.S.Ed., M.S.Ed., Ed.M., and a team of faculty and staff set out to create a model for applying and disseminating current research and designing innovative programs that would mark Agnes Irwin as a thought leader and change agent in education.
The mission of the Center for the Advancement of Girls is to support girls in developing the cognitive and social-emotional tools and resilient mindset needed to lead healthy, balanced lives while empowering them to be leaders in a global community.
